Pancha Rodillo Chile, b. 1990

Biography

Her work delves into the tensions inherent in the experience of care: an ambivalent territory where protection and sacrifice, tenderness and instinct, coexist.

Francisca Manuela Rodillo de Vicente, “Pancha Rodillo” is an artist based in Mexico whose practice unfolds under the conceptual axis of exploring the duality of human behaviour. Her work delves into the tensions inherent in the experience of care: an ambivalent territory where protection and sacrifice, tenderness and instinct, coexist.

With a BA in Fine Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, she also holds a Diploma in Art Pedagogy and an MA in Art Therapy from the Universidad del Desarrollo. Francisca draws upon her academic background and this sense of duality to bridge seemingly opposing worlds; through embroidery, painting, printmaking, and jewellery, she materialises the contrast between the fragility of fibre and the solidity of metal, reflecting the complexity of emotional bonds. In her imagery, human and animal figures intertwine to reveal our contradictory nature. Her career includes exhibitions in Chile, Mexico, Germany, and the United States.
