Biography

Modigliani moved to Paris in 1906 where he was amongst Pablo Picasso, Diego Rivera and Jean Cocteau. His most celebrated works are a series of female nudes which he painted in 1916 and 1917.

His most celebrated works are a series of female nudes which he painted in 1916 and 1917.  Modigliani did not exhibit in Mexico during his lifetime, but his work has been shown there in later years through major exhibitions. One of the most important was El París de Modigliani y sus contemporáneos, held at the Museo del Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City in 2020–2021, which explored his work alongside other artists of the School of Paris. His paintings have also appeared in group exhibitions, such as Diálogos de vanguardia at the Museo Nacional de Arte.
